Royal Fountain of Trinity

The Royal Fountain of Trinidad was built in 1403, however official information was lost in 1707 when the city's archives were fired.

The Fountain of Real Trinidat is located in Plaza Trinidad, in the heart of the historic center of the city Xàtiva, it is the oldest fountain in the city (15th century) and an exponent of Gothic architecture and one of the few of this style still preserved in the Region of Valencia. it has an octagonal basin, in whose center a prism-shaped column rises. The drum is also octagonal and the coats of arms of Xàtiva and Aragon are carved on its faces. Originally it was polychrome, but the action of water caused the edges to erode, eliminating the polychrome. The top of the fountain is a pyramid decorated with rows of crochet and nowadays crowned with a small ornament that replaces the original: an image of Saint Lucia.

This source later served as a “model” for other sources, built in the meantime.

The top of the fountain is a pyramid decorated with raised rows and is currently crowned with a small ornament that replaces the original: an image of Saint Lucia.

The Fountain of Real Trinidad is a very special fountain, appreciated by the Xátiva people.
