Large stone statue, five meters high, located at the Penha viewpoint, erected in honor of Pope Pius IX. Construction began on June 18, 1882, with the solemn laying of the first stone, and was inaugurated eleven years later (on September 8, 1893), in honor of the Pope who, in 1854, allowed the place to become sacred. .

 

This viewpoint allows you to contemplate the entire city of Guimarães and its surroundings.
