Guimarães Cable Car
Unique in the northern region, this cable car provides a trip of 1,700m, overcoming an altitude of 400m in just a few minutes.
Known as the first cable car to start operating in Portugal, the Guimaraes cable car takes you on an unforgettable trip to Penha, a sanctuary of natural life with the best views of the region.
At the top of Penha, you can discover an extraordinary place of worship in the north of the country, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Carmo da Penha, and the monumental set of rocks that invite you for a long visit.
Visitors wishing to travel to Penha Mountain can easily take the cable car, enjoying the magnificent landscape that separates the valley and the mountain of Guimarães.
In Penha Mountain, besides the Sanctuary, it has a wide range of infrastructures, including a Mountain Campsite, a mini golf course, maintenance circuits, walking and picnicking areas, in the shade of leafy trees, restaurants, bars and cafeterias.

June, July and Septembre - From Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m to 7 p.m and Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 10 a.m to 8 p.m
August- from 10 a.m to 8 p.m
Departures evey 30 minutes
Last Boarding: 15 minutes before last departure
Closes to maintenance every last Monday of each month
Closing days: Decembre 25th and Easter Sunday

How to Get to the Cable Car
If you have not scheduled your route to Guimarães, here is how to get to the city.
If you arrive by car, the cable car is right in the center of Guimarães, with great access and parking for cars and buses.
The main attractions of the city of Guimarães are very close, concentrating on the historical center of the city.
If you arrive by train to Guimarães, just 15 minutes on foot you will find the cable car (1.5km).
If you arrive by bus, the cable car is 2 km away, about 30 minutes on foot. On leaving the central bus station, head towards the historic center. Enjoy some of the city's emblematic spaces, heading towards the cable car.
